SFILES 2.0: an extended text-based flowsheet representation

Abstract SFILES are a text-based notation for chemical process flowsheets. They were originally proposed by d’Anterroches (Process flow sheet generation & design through group contribution approach) who was inspired the SMILES molecules. The format has several advantages compared to flowsheet images regarding storage format, computational accessibility, and eventually data analysis processing. However, original version cannot describe essential configurations unambiguously, such as distinction between top bottom products. Neither is it capable of describing control structure required safe reliable operation processes. Also, there no publicly available software decoding or encoding topologies SFILES. We propose 2.0 with complete description extended naming conventions. Additionally, we provide open-source automated conversion graphs strings. This way, hope encourage researchers engineers publish their ultimate goal set standards creating FAIR database flowsheets, which would be great value future
